Hi, I'm Helena
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist from Portugal, registered with the Portuguese Psychological Association, with the American Psychological Association, and with EMDR-Portugal.
In the past decade I have lived in several countries in the Middle East, north and east Africa and Europe, and developed mental health services for people affected by war and humanitarian crisis.
I am currently working as a consultant and focusing on clinical practice. I offer online consultations, in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a process that aims to reduce psychological suffering, promote personal development and strengthen the person's ability to face challenges and make conscious choices.

The psychotherapeutic process is developed in the context of a relationship of trust and cooperation between psychologist and patient. The psychologist offers a supportive environment that allows the person to talk openly with someone who is objective, neutral and non-judgmental.

Psychotherapy seeks to support people to:
Reduce psychological distress (e.g. feeling less anxiety, fear, shame or sadness),
Seek strategies to deal with difficult moments in life, personal, family, or professional challenges,
Gain awareness of limiting beliefs, thoughts or behaviors that may be impacting their life and relationships.

And the greatest journey one can undertake is the journey within oneself.
