Hi, I'm Helena

I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist from Portugal, with 20 years of experience in mental health. My professional experience spans clinical and community mental health, as well as more than 13 years working in international and humanitarian contexts.
Living and working across different countries and cultures has shaped the way I understand mental health and psychological wellbeing: as deeply personal, but also inseparable from relationships, culture and context. My clinical practice brings together an integrative, person-centred approach with an appreciation of the wider social and cultural dimensions of suffering, resilience and mental health.
Today, my work has two main strands. I work with adults and youth in individual psychotherapy, online in Portuguese, English and Spanish, supporting people through emotional difficulties, life transitions, trauma, relationship difficulties, migration, and the complexities of living across cultures. Alongside this, I work with international and humanitarian organisations, providing staff care and MHPSS consultancy, training and needs assessments.
